“One year into the pandemic, adapting to the new normal”

New normal after the pandemic

Pandemic has changed the working environment across the globe. Pandemic enhances challenges for mid-size companies to implement HR technologies efficiently because the working model has changed after the pandemic. The major technologies of organisations are required to be more agile and continuously evaluate data for adapting to the new normal (Langgat, J., 2020).

The outbreak of the covid-19 has increased the practice of remote working instead of a conventional office. A hybrid working model has been developed after the pandemic which enables employees to work both at home and office. Employee recognition is an integral part of the working culture for motivating employees and their contribution to the organisation. Employee recognition supports employees to maintain their morale in the working environment (Pedersen, C.L. and Ritter, T., 2020).

The new HR system must focus on employee wellness for managing the stress level and morale of employees. Employee communication is another factor that needs to be focused on remote and hybrid working models of organisations after the pandemic (Cheah, J.H., 2020). Effective communication plays a significant role in the organisation. The objective of the organisation, changes in policies, employee benefits, accountability of employees, and other important announcements must be communicated with employees efficiently.

The new hybrid and remote working model must include a remote attendance tracking system for ensuring that employees are working effectively from their homes. The performance management system also needs to be focused on the new working model. Task management tools support managers to evaluate the performance of employees. Organisations and managers request to encourage employees to take their time off from the work after evaluating their performance.

The article helps to understand that taking care of employees is important even if they are working from home. The new HR model mast emphasis on evaluating employees’ performances along with their facilities in the workplace (Kurpayanidi, K.I., 2020)

  5. A year after COVID-19 pandemic has emerged, we have suddenly been forced to adapt to the ‘new normal’: work-from-home setting, parents home-schooling their children in a new blended learning setting, lockdown and quarantine, and the mandatory wearing of face mask and face shields in public. Good topic.
