A challenge for HR: Workplace lonelines

Loneliness at the workplace is one of the biggest issues through which the HR department of the organisations are going. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic, the organisations are following the restriction of social distance and are working from their respective homes. This has led to the organisation having a lonely environment (Yang and Wen, 2021). The outbreak of the virus has led to making stress on the mental health of the employees. Anxiety and depression have been the most common effect among them. These factors have made the employees feel more isolated and away from the environment (Ozcelik and Barsade, 2018).

A recent study has evaluated that men have an intense feeling of loneliness when compared to women. These harm their work and hence makes them less productive. This leads the organisation into a state which reduces the sales of the organisation. The Human Resource department also suffers as they have to make strategies and methods that will foster the growth of these employees as well as for the motivation. Loneliness has also been experienced by the CEOs of the organisation. Recent research has evaluated that out of 100, 61 CEOs have felt loneliness in their organisation and that has affected their performance (peoplehum, 2021).

To resolve these issues the HR department of the organisations are required to perform research on the experiences of the employees such as what are the issues that are associated when they are performing their duties (Zhou, 2018). The motivation of these employees and workers is the biggest challenge for the HR department of the organisation and hence they must come up with tactics and strategies such as Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Herzbergs' Motivation Theory. These methods can be highly useful for the organisation in the eradication of loneliness (Wright and Silard, 2021).

  1. Not related this subject of gender ,Technologies like email, texting, and messaging have increased the convenience and efficiency of communication in the workplace, but they also limit personal connections. It's easier to dismiss a coworker or email them than walking across the office to talk to a colleague who may be on a different assignment. But email and messaging are outdated and prevent important human interactions.
